Hasbro Marvel Legends Series 3

Hasbro Marvel Legends Series 3 Brood QueenHot off the tail of Hasbro’s Fantastic Four themed series of Marvel Legends comes the third standard series of superarticulated figures from the Marvel Comics Universe. I’ve been pretty critical of Hasbro’s handling of the Marvel license so far, but this 3rd wave is actually starting to shape up. We’re still seeing flat, unpainted plastic and a reduction in functional articulation, but Hasbro’s style is sort of starting to grow on me. Marvel Girl and Black Knight both really shine as figures in this assortment even though they both rely heavily on Hasbro-style swivel joints. If Series 3 is any indication of things to come, then I’m feeling much better about Hasbro’s handling of the line. It seems like maybe the growing pains are over, and the company is finally starting to hit their stride with this fantastic toy line. HML Fantastic Four Series

f4thumb.jpg Hasbro is doing an outstanding job of capitalizing on blockbuster superhero movies delivering fans and collectors what they want! Yes, here is their Fantastic Four themed Marvel Legends Build-a-Figure series. You get the classic F4 - Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and the Thing, along with their super-powered buddies Namor the Sub-Mariner and the Silver Surfer. But that’s not all! Hasbro is sucking us dry by stretching out a 7″ BAF across eight freakin’ figures committed to delivering as many new characters per series as possible, so you get villains Dr. Doom and the Mole Man as well. As if that weren’t enough, if you buy all eight, you can complete the undersized BAF who really should have just been a single-carded release super-awesome cosmic bad-guy Ronan! Yay! (more…)

HML Exclusive 2-Packs

cannonballdominothumb.jpg Hasbro has dished Wal-Mart a little love in the form of a couple sets of exclusive 2-packs. Cannonball and Domino get packaged together, while Cable and Marvel Girl enjoy each other’s company in the another set. I was completely sold on Cannonball and Domino - these are the first incarnations of either character under the Marvel Legends banner (be it by ToyBiz or Hasbro) and the figures just came out pretty nice. Cable and Marvel Girl on the other hand were passes. Expand the post to find out why! (more…)
