Hasbro Marvel Legends Icons Series 3
Hasbro’s third pairing of highly detailed 12″ scale Marvel Legends Icons figures delivers excellent versions of Fantastic Four member the Human Torch and cosmic hero the Silver Surfer. Both figures demonstrate excellent articulation with nice sculpt detail and paint accents. While I highly recommend the Icons figures to fans and collectors, I shy away from them myself, simply because I don’t have the space to display an assortment of figures at this size. HML Icons Series 3 | Sep 27
The fourth series of Icons sized Marvel Legends to come from Hasbro includes two classic mutants - Cyclops, tortured, noble leader of the X-men, and Magneto, the oft-misunderstood villain and occasional hero. While I’m a big fan of both of these characters, I’m not a fan of 12″ figures. They’re just too darn big. The articulation, paint detail, and sculpting is all excellent on these guys, but I’m going to hold out for the reduced 6″ version of Cyke we’ll be getting in HML3. And I’m crossing my fingers that Hasbro will scale down this Magneto for a future release as well, given that they’ve set a precedent for doing by sticking 6″ versions of the 3rd series of Icons into the 6″ FF wave. Hasbro’s second series of Marvel Legends figures brings us superarticulated versions of Lord Thor, She-Hulk, YellowJacket, Quicksilver, Xorn, Ultimate Wolverine, X-Men 3 Movie Jean Grey, and X-Men 3 Movie Juggernaut. If you collect all eight you get to complete the Blob build-a-figure. While this series was a bit of a step up from Hasbro’s first effort with the Marvel Legends line, they still left a lot to be desired in terms of paint detail. Plus, we got two more movie figures for a film that had been out of theatres for nearly a year. Shrug. Expand the post for pics and reviews.
